First off, the hood isn't going to absorb much energy in a head on collision. I would even venture to say that it is totally inconsequential in a front end collision. Second, the hood would cost well over $1000 to fabricate over aluminum. Third, the heat dissipation benefits of aluminum are MORE than offset by the cooling effects of the vents. I'm guessing you're an engineer of sorts..
